• Microsoft Planner

  Microsoft Planner is lightweight tasks in the microsoft 365 stack. Microsoft Planner is a convenient way to track simple tasks when you already live in Microsoft 365, but it stops at buckets and assignments. Planoda adds a real keyboard-first tracker — cycles, estimates, dependencies, and code links — while staying fast and approachable. Planner Agent (Microsoft's chat-driven plan builder) reached general availability worldwide in June 2026, but it requires a separate Microsoft 365 Copilot license (roughly $30/user/mo) on top of Planner, whereas Planoda includes AI per seat.

• Notion

  Notion is great docs, weak tracking. Yes — Planoda is a strong Notion alternative for the work-tracking half of what teams use Notion for. Notion's 2026 push — Custom Agents, an External Agents API that turns the workspace into an orchestration layer (routing tasks to Claude/Codex with approval steps), plus Workers and a developer CLI — is impressive for docs and automation, but its databases still buckle as a real tracker: no native cycles, estimates, or code links, a hard 10,000-row ceiling, and multi-second loads as pages grow. Planoda ships purpose-built tracking — sub-100 ms at thousands of issues, with write-capable agents under a propose/approve broker and an immutable audit log — so most teams keep Notion for long-form knowledge and move work-tracking to Planoda.

  Basecamp is calm PM, not a tracker. Basecamp is a calm home for to-dos, messages, and docs, but it isn't an issue tracker. Planoda keeps work organized and approachable while adding the cycles, estimates, dependencies, and code links software teams need. Basecamp's 2026 stance on AI is deliberately anti-hype: instead of an in-app assistant, it shipped an "agent-accessible" API + CLI (March 2026) so external AI coding/ops agents can manage to-dos and files — included at no extra charge, but there's no native AI triage or semantic search the way Planoda ships per seat.
